Day 5 c - Vergina and Tomb of Philip

We continued from Veria on to the small town of Vergina to visit the recently unearthed Royal Macedonian tombs and archaeological ruins found under large earth mounds, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was here that Philip II, Alexander the Great’s father, was assassinated and buried along with many stunning treasures which we saw on the visit.

Tomorrow Diane and I will remain on the cruise ship while others travel to Meteora, monasteries in high and rugged mountains.
