Our chef put out a huge display of chocolate treats this evening.  Can you believe what a transfer of chocolate from these tables to our tummies? We will arrive at Valparaiso tomorrow morning for some excursions there and at Santiago, the capital of Chile.  We will be three days/two nights there where there will be a rotation of 100 crew members (almost 20%) and 700 passengers (almost 2/3).

PUERTO MONTT, CHILE Puerto Montt  is a port  city  and  commune  in southern  Chile , located at the northern end of the  Reloncaví Sound  in the  Llanquihue Province ,  Los Lagos Region , 655 miles to the south of the capital,  Santiago .  The commune spans an area of 646 square miles and has a population of 245,902 in 2017.  It is bounded by the communes of  Puerto Varas  to the north,  Cochamó  to the east and southeast,  Calbuco  to the southwest and  Maullín  and  Los Muermos  to the west. Founded as late as 1853 during the  German colonization of southern Chile , Puerto Montt soon outgrew older neighboring cities due to its strategic position at the southern end of the  Chilean Central Valley  being a gateway city into  Chiloé Archipelago ,  Llanquihue  and  Nahuel Huapi  lakes and  Western Patagonia . Today our executive chef and the Viking Sun Galley Team prepared a  special brunch as we sailed through the Southern Atlantic Ocean.  Starters.  Spaghetti with five sauces plus garnishing.  Breads.  Salads plus horderves.  Shrimp plus crab legs.  Deserts 1.  Deserts 2.  Calories!  Sushi.  Omelets.  Fresh fruits. Tacos.  Guess who? Ice creams.

Puerto Chacabuco  is a  Chilean  town in  Aisén  commune.  Administratively it belongs to  Aysén Province  in  Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region  and is located at the head of  Aisén Fjord .  It is the main port of the region, a port of call for ships sailing to the  Laguna San Rafael National Park  and the terminus of a  Navimag  ferry service from  Puerto Montt . The cargo ship Lechstein  NDL  in Puerto Chacabuco - 1960 Before the great burnings of the Patagonian forests and the eruption of  Mount Hudson  volcano in 1991,  Puerto Aisén  was the main port in the  Aisén Fjord , but the ashes and earth  erosion  decreased the navigability of  Aisén River  and the port had to be moved further to the coast where Puerto Chacabuco now stands.
