Friday, August 30-31, 2019 Fights to London from MCI
Our American Airlines 4 PM Friday August 30 flight from MCI to Chicago O'Hare was short (1 1/2 hours - barely got to altitude then began decent) and uneventful. After checking in at British Airways counter we had several hours to wait; we were advised about the BA lounge. We headed there to find dinner waiting on us. Along with a little wine we were set for the remainder of our flight.
When we arrived in the waiting area, we looked out the window to an unusual bird at the end of the enclosed ramps. We had never seen an 833 before. Try as I could, I cannot find this model on the Internet.
Note there are two delivery trucks on the right side of the plane providing meals and two covered gangways on the left side, each at different levels. That's because there are two almost equal floors. The main (lower) floor has the only first class section in front where as both floors have business and passenger class sections.
The business class sections have seats that convert to beds. The wall on Diane's right separates her rear facing window seat with the forward facing seat on the other side of the wall. The seat on the other side is next to one of the two isles.
The seats against the outer walls are configured as in the previous two pictures with Diane. Between the two isles are four seats. The outer seats of the four face forward and the two center seats face rearward. All business seats convert to beds.
We arrived London at 10:30 local time, Saturday, August 31. After passport clearing, customs control, picking up our suit cases off the conveyor belt, and greetings by Viking rep, it was a 2-hour bus ride from airport on west side of London to cruise ship in Greenwich on east side of London.
Our two suitcases that we sent two weeks ahead were waiting on us in our stateroom so we took time to unpack and put into drawers and onto hangers. After supper our suitcases we brought on plane were waiting on us so more unpacking and putting away (for 4 months). Then we were tired and hit the bed around 10 PM.
