Tuesday, March 13, 2018, Kowloon, China day 2 (2 of 2)

The second half of today's shore excursion found us in more modern garden and temple.
Nan Lian Garden is situated at Diamond Hill, Kowloon, Hong Kong, occupying an area of 35,000 square meters.  The garden is connected to Chi Lin Nunnery with a sprawling mountain range at its back.  The garden and nunnery are built in the Tang style.  They represent the enactment of timber structure and garden of the ancient Tang Dynasty style in modern times.  The garden design was based on Jiangshouju Garden of the Tang Dynasty, a traditional Chinese landscape garden in Shanxi Province.  The ancient landscape garden was adorned with springs, hillocks, trees, flowers and plants, pavilions, winding paths, and bridges.  The garden and nunnery are both serene and peaceful.

 Models of ancient Chinese buildings.

Neither nails or tie straps were used to hold these buildings together.

Have a guess what this is?

Interior of a water mill.  All wood construction and gears.

Entering nunnery across street from garden.
Temple of the nunnery with its garden.

On our way back to cruise ship, we passed by the Hollywood Plaza.  Obviously these are high-priced or high rent apartments.  Hong Kong has the second most expensive real estate in the world.

See the little speck on the right side of the glass building about 2/3 the way up?
Yep!  Window washers.
On our way out of Hong Kong harbor at 2 PM.
